From the "Urban Native" series.

If you are anything like me you are wondering what you’ll learn from this collection of words and pictures. Be prepared to be disappointed because believe it or not this is for me, not you.

This is my photographic journal. It is a selection of my images and what I have to say about them. There may, at times be talk about the photography, but most of the time it will be just be my thoughts, feelings or what I have learnt from the experience.

Be prepared to be disappointed because believe it or not this is for me, not you.

If you’re looking for a tutorial blog to show you what F-Stop to use, what is the best hardware to buy or how to setup studio lighting for a model shoot, then this isn’t something for you.

Like most diaries or journals, you may get to see a little insight into the type of person and photographer I am; this may be a bit of a shock for some, and then again you may even learn something about yourself. Either way, I think I have made it clear that this isn’t about you, it’s about me, my images and my thoughts on life.

Becoming a professional photographer has been a confronting process for me. In my past life I was a computer engineer, all things logical and process driven. After almost 15 years it had ingrained itself into who I was, or who I thought I was.  The last handful of years of my life have been an upheaval. Only now am I appearing from the smoke that is slowly settling around me.

I find myself looking at the world with different eyes. Eyes that are not always logical or process driven but now look for the beauty or wonder in the world. I have been forced to evaluate the important things in life.

Enjoy Life, before the darkness gets you.

The one defining thought I have had is I want to enjoy life. I have embraced that thought in all aspects of my life. In my new profession I enjoy life, through photography. While in my personal life I enjoy life by deliberately slowing down, smelling the roses and appreciating all it has to offer.

Everyone has different beliefs and thoughts about how to live their lives. Mine may seem simple and uninspiring, but it works for me and I now wake up every morning with a smile in my heart, looking forward to the journey I am now on.

Enjoy Life, before the darkness gets you.
